UK and Irish component manufacturers may well know us best for our Lynx and Puma lathes…our DNM and Mynx 3-axis vertical machining centres…and our SMX mill-turn machines.

But there’s much more to the Doosan machine tool range than you might think...or expect.

Our ‘Strokes of Genius’ emailer series is intended to bring you up to speed with Doosan machines that may be less familiar to you, but which are equally innovative and technically excellent.

Doosan’s Puma V8300 vertical turret lathes

Doosan Machine Tools has an unrivalled pedigree in supplying precision component manufacturers with high-productivity vertical turning lathes - and the launch of its new V8300 series of machines only substantiates the company's market-leading credentials.

The V8300 series has been designed to machine large, heavy and awkward-shaped workpieces.

There are six different machines in the range, including two models (V8300-2SP and V8300M-2SP) with twin spindles - and the machines can be supplied with different chuck sizes - 15”, 18”, 21” and 24” - that further improve the range’s versatility and appeal.

V8300 machines have a Meehanite cast iron bed and feature a box guideway construction, both of which enable high-accuracy, heavy-duty machining operations to be performed…and process reliability to be optimised.

The machines have a maximum turning diameter of 830mm and a maximum turning length of 750mm, and are equipped with powerful, high-torque 37kW/2000rpm spindles.

The V8300 machines have servo-driven turrets (12 position as standard) and are supplied with either Fanuc or Siemens controls.

Other features include improved chip evacuation and an ergonomically-designed control panel that is both height adjustable and movable for increased operator convenience.

The V8300 machines join an already impressive line-up of Doosan vertical turning lathes and Doosan vertical Ram-type lathes. These machines, all available from Mills CNC, are the preferred choice for component manufacturers working in the large automotive, rail and energy sectors…to name but a few.
